Eccleshall 10k

Saturday 4^th April 2026

Race report by Mel Deakin

A new race on the calendar and one I signed up for as soon as I saw it, as is in my home town and a 10 minute walk to the start, what more can you ask for.

The race started at the cricket club, crossed the Chester Road and climbed up Kerry Lane to Elford Heath. Down past Horsley Hall, then through and up and down towards Cop Mere, then the long drag up back to Elford Heath and the sharp down Kerry Lane and back to the cricket club. It is what I would describe as lumpy, but through beautiful countryside. The weather was kind to us, lovely and cool without being cold, a bit breezy but that seems to be the norm these days. It was great to see Joe and JC Race Solutions doing the timing. Back at the cricket club, the bar was open, the BBQ was sizzling, it was lovely.

A race I hope becomes a regular fixture, it was well organised and reasonably priced, and nice to have a Saturday race for a change. One to consider for the Harriers Challenge maybe.

Three Harriers ran, alas Mr Stazaker beat me to first Harrier home having a very good run, Liz and I represented the ladies.
